What is Harness Skills?

Harness Skills is a set of owned us-* skills for Oh My Pi, Claude Code, OpenCode and Codex that take a natural-language request to reviewed, verified work.

It includes research before edits, A plan with one approval and classified implementation workers. It runs on macOS, Linux and Windows (PowerShell installer for OpenCode and Codex), and it is open source under the GPL-3.0-only license.

$ skills --features

What does Harness Skills do?

  • Research before edits

    us-research inspects current source, callers, conventions and applicable memory, using a read-only worker when research is enabled.

  • A plan with one approval

    us-plan drafts a plan with concrete acceptance and ownership, then asks for one approval.

  • Classified implementation workers

    us-implement runs authorized implementation and repairs, inline for a focused fix or through classified workers.

  • Fresh reviews

    us-review and us-check-security give independent, evidence-based correctness and security reviews.

  • Focused audits

    Security, performance and code-quality audits, plus architecture and test-coverage improvements. Audits default to read-only.

  • Delivery

    us-open-pr and us-approve-work deliver reviewed work as a feature-branch pull request, only when you explicitly authorize it.

  • Memory

    Agent-invoked memory for durable facts alongside code relationships. us-use-harness-memory pairs with the separate Harness Memory MCP tools.

  • A fast lane

    A repository switch or us-ignore-workflow skips the workflow for a request. Small, bounded fixes can use focused repair.

$ skills --privacy

Is it safe? What stays under your control?

  • No Anvil dependency, custom workflow executor, model router, phase database or stop-hook continuation loop.
  • The skills are instructions your harness reads. They are prompt instructions, not enforced stage transitions.
  • The OpenCode and Codex install scripts download the release tarball over HTTPS, run safety checks and install nothing when a check fails.
  • Audits default to read-only local investigation: no production probing and no automatic fixes.

$ skills --family

How does Harness Skills fit the Harness Useful family?

Harness Skills is the workflow in Harness Useful, a family of four open-source, local tools for coding-agent harnesses. Harness Desktop is the window, Harness Skills the workflow, Harness Memory the shared project memory and Harness Dashboard the usage and cost meter.

Each tool works on its own. Harness Desktop’s Recommended setup can install the others after you confirm each part and register their MCP servers in each detected harness.

See the Harness Useful home page, all four tools side by side or the family FAQ.

Harness Skills FAQ

What is Harness Skills?

Harness Skills is a set of owned us-* skills for Oh My Pi, Claude Code, OpenCode and Codex. These harnesses discover the skill descriptions, and the model follows the relevant instructions with its own native tools and workers. It takes a request to reviewed, verified work.

Which coding agents does Harness Skills support?

Oh My Pi, Claude Code, OpenCode and Codex. Each has its own install section. Claude Code gets 21 namespaced skills and seven native agents. OpenCode v1.x and v2.x are supported. Codex needs the codex CLI. All adapters need Node.js 22 or newer.

How do I install Harness Skills?

Use the commands for your harness. Oh My Pi, Claude Code and Codex install a marketplace plugin with a short command. OpenCode, and the full Codex install, use a curl script on macOS and Linux or an irm script in PowerShell on Windows. Restart the harness afterwards.

Does the workflow run automatically and can I turn it off?

Natural development requests go through us-run-workflow, which inspects the code and explains the selected lane. The skills are prompt instructions, not enforced stage transitions. In OMP, run /useful-skills workflow disabled in a repository to switch it off there, or invoke us-ignore-workflow for one request.

Does Harness Skills include memory?

Yes. Claude Code, OpenCode and Codex get a separate local memory server with memory_status, memory_search, memory_save, graph_build and graph_query tools, with project-scoped private files. The us-use-harness-memory skill works with the separate Harness Memory MCP tools.

Is Harness Skills free and open source?

Yes. This repository is under GPL-3.0-only. Third-party portions keep their stated licenses, recorded in the repository’s attribution table. It has no custom workflow executor, model router or phase database.
